8-inch vintage salad or dessert plate from famed Portuguese ceramics brand, Bordallo Pinhiero. This pattern was popular in the 70’s and 80’s and has since been discontinued, but is the predecessor to the brand’s iconic cabbage pattern.
Bordallo Pinheiro was founded in 1884 by Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. Bordallo Pinheiro is renowned for its artistic faience pottery featuring vibrant, naturalistic designs of flora and fauna. Raphael, who was also a prominent cartoonist (!), introduced wit and social commentary into his ceramics, creating iconic cabbage leaf plates and realistic animal sculptures.
